Guest Artist; Dori DeCamillis!

Today we were honored by a guest artist presentation; Dori DeCamillis, nationally known artist and owner of the Red Dot Gallery in Homewood. She has shown her work all over the country and has had her artwork featured at the Mobile Museum of Art, the Huntsville Museum of Art, and the Montgomery Museum of Art. She shared a slide show of her paintings, from the Alabama series to the figurative series of half human, half animal Surrealist works. She has also been featured on the television show Absolutely Alabama with Fred Hunter. We loved listening to her tell stories about how the Alabama paintings came to be and about her adventures in traveling all over our state. She also talked to us about the inspiration behind the Surrealist pieces; each one symbolizes her thoughts and emotions. We enjoyed her painting demonstration, too! She taught us how to use light and color to make our forms look more 3D, from the simplest of spheres to the most complex tree. Thank you, Ms. Dori! You are welcome back, any time!
